Hotel Cappuccino

Rooms are like prison cells ,no where to sit at all ,staff at reception have no hospitality training.We sat at lobby and told you can't have your snacks go back to the room where there is no where to sit.We rebooked another hotel.

Would I stay here again, definitely not. Here’s why:
1. The rooms are extremely small. There’s no where to hang clothes up and once you have two suitcases in there, there’s very little space for anything else.
2. The shower has an unfrosted glass screen that opens up into the room, so when you’re cleaning yourself, you are in full view of the other person.
3. The room looked very tired and the walls / floor were covered in scuff marks.
4. The breakfast offering was limited and in my opinion, not worth the price.
5. The restaurant / room service menu is very basic although if you like hotdogs and burgers, you’ll likely be fine.

Positives:
They had a laundry which was great given the length of time we are away for.

Hotel Cappuccino was a perfect hotel for visiting Seoul! It is in the business district, so everything was very quiet in the evenings. The staff was extremely friendly and they were helpful providing local recommendations.

I booked to stay here for a week and ended up leaving after 5 nights because I couldn't take it anymore. There were a lot of things about this hotel I really liked. The room design and layout. The bathroom. The huge window and black out blind. The location. A really good hotel for a solo traveler. I would have been happy to give it 4 or 5 stars had it not been for the heating/cooling system making the room completely inhospitable to be in and forcing me to leave a reservation early, something I have never done before. The air conditioning system gets switched off at night (always at a random time, sometimes 8pm sometimes 1am) at which point the thermostat stops functioning and you have no control over the temperature of the room. The problem is that the air duct automatically pumps heat into the room when the cooling is off so the room becomes very very hot very very quickly. It's extremely uncomfortable. The temperature reached nearly 30c in the room. This is totally unacceptable. Keep in mind that this was not in summer, and the outside air temperature ranged from about 9c to no more than 15c.
I actually opened the door to the hallway periodically just to get some cooler air in when I would wake up covered in sweat in the middle of the night. I asked the front desk if the air conditioning gets switched off at night because I was finding the room really hot (I also showed a picture of the temp) and the person I spoke with actually just laughed and smiled. It was a pretty strange interaction. I did manage to get a fan from another staff member which helped a bit but after a 5th sleepless night I was so exhausted I decided I needed to just leave and go stay elsewhere.
I'm really glad I left because I had such better sleep at the new place and got to enjoy my trip so much more.
I would really urge you NOT to book this hotel. I am not someone who *needs* air conditioning (don't have it at home) or is in general a particularly hot person and this place was unbearable for me.

Super super King size bed with 6 pillows! Electric toilet seat keep your butt warm in winter, blue waffle robe, If you want the biggest super king size bed for one person or couple, and the daily rate is under $100 that’s how much I paid btw, this hotel is fantastic, it is trendy, concrete steel metal theme, the flat screen tv is 60inch , the bed is massive, the hotel is 4 star in my opinion although it is not rated 4 star, it has gym and it has rooftop bar and restaurant, also laundry dryer room. So far it’s the best hotel I’ve stayed, I’ve been staying here for 4 weeks because and the price I’ve paid is less than one bedroom flat in London. I strongly recommend anyone to come to Seoul to stay in this hotel, it’s close to Gangnam, it has metro station nearby, walking distance, to Gangnam. To Sinsa most of taxi cost around $8 k taxi app. Can’t complement the super super king size xxxL bed enough, never stayed in a hotel has bed this big. And 6 pillows. 😍

The room is retamgular it’s practical not spacious,the whole theme color is grey concrete and it’s a bit jail cell vibe, there’s not enough room for luggage, but if you are staying alone, it’s good, because your bed is massive, there’s shower, there’s no desk but there’s working desk space at the cafe downstairs. But if you are coming as a couple, there’s little space outside the bed.

The hotel has zero sound proofing.
If your room is on a lower level and faces the street, you will lose your sanity (even with ear plug on) hearing a cascade of never-ending honks from the intersection. You can even hear people talking on the streets.
Usually hotel is booked and there is no availability for any other room.
Plus the AC is right above the bed, blowing on your head. If you turn it off air becomes stale. Rooms are tiny.
Front desk service isn't great and it's slightly rude. I asked for a taxi to leave the hotel and they told me there are no taxis. Hard to believe Seoul has no taxis. I spent 30 minutes outside in the rain figuring out their local taxi system Kakao (which has much better quality than Uber).
Mascot of hotel is funny though.
I do not recommend bothering with this hotel, even if it's in downtown. They charge a lot for what they offer, likely because of the location and demand.
Go to Novotel rather. Great experience there, a bit higher prices but totally worth it.

Breakfast is good value by western standards. An improvement on the freshness of the bread would be my one suggestion. Staff were accommodating of my request to borrow an adapter. Room clean was prompt. My room disappointment was two fold; while the sink had hot water the shower did not ( and for a 2 night stay ). The thread count on the sheets could also be improved. Not soft.
