Hotel Riviera

An older, more traditional hotel. The stay wasn’t bad, but the property definitely feels dated and the overall vibe is a bit old-school. The location is also a little awkward—not terrible, but not as convenient as other options in Seoul.

It’s fine if you’re looking for a simple, classic hotel, but for younger travelers who prefer modern design and a more updated atmosphere, it might feel a bit unfamiliar or underwhelming.

I wanted to organise a gift for my sister, who was staying in a hotel, by booking and paying online for a massage session. Unfortunately, the hotel does not accept online payments for their services, except for booking a room. In this modern age, it's surprising to find a hotel that cannot facilitate online payments for their services.

We stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights during our recent trip to Seoul, South Korea, and it was quite a pleasant stay.
The hotel was a bit old, but it served its purpose for us. Its location on a major road was a plus point, besides also being in close proximity to the COEX Mall.

The room was quite spacious and comfortable for the two of us, eventhough the gave us 2 twin beds instead of one kingsized bed.

The front office staff was very nice to offer us to use the business suite for free, and also providing the wake up call for our early departure to the airport.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

This hotel should have 5 stars except, Shin, restaurant supervisor needs training in how to communicate in a professional manner.
Let me explain;
During our first breakfast, my wife asked if “we could have breakfast brought to our room since she’ll have surgery the next day?” The response (while he was focused on the computer and not looking at us) is No, without any explanation after I told him we paid for breakfast from May 12th to the 26th.
As a compromise (since he didn’t offer any) my wife asked if her husband (me) could bring food our room? Again the response without making eye contact - NO!
I asked why? No response.
I asked to talk to his superior? No response.
The above are the reasons for 1-star for service. Let me be clear - everyone else Housekeeping, Room Serve, Front Desk staff all deserve 5- stars.

I stayed at Hotel Riviera and was honestly disappointed given it’s listed as a 4-star hotel.

The overall stay wasn’t great. The rooms felt quite outdated and didn’t match the standard I’ve experienced at other 4-star hotels in Seoul. The pillows were very flat with no real neck support options, which ended up leaving me with headaches during the stay.

There were also a few service-related things that stood out. The gym requires an additional fee, which was surprising, and laundry is charged per piece, which adds up quickly. In the room, items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other basic amenities were laid out but required an additional charge to use, which felt misleading and not in line with what I’d expect from a hotel at this level.

One of the more frustrating parts was luggage storage after checkout. We needed to leave our bags for a few hours, which is something most hotels I’ve stayed at handle without issue. However, we were only allowed to store two pieces, so we ended up having to drag our carry-ons around with us, which was pretty inconvenient.

Overall, it felt like the hotel was trying to find every possible way to charge for basic conveniences. Having stayed at several other 4-star hotels in Seoul, this property certainly didn’t feel like it met that standard. In my experience, it falls below average at best and doesn’t reflect 4-star quality.
