Hotel Skypark Kingstown Dongdaemun

I love the location despite it being slightly further from the subway and airport limousine bus. This is because it is at a prime location near a lot of restaurants, stores and shopping malls. I feel the fact that there are great restaurants just opposite the hotel made me liked this hotel. Slightly away from the main road and hustles of the street so it is quieter and calmer.

This was one of the most comfortable and clean hotels we stayed at in Korea. Our room was very comfortable and the size was perfect. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. The shower was honestly the strongest and most relaxing shower I’ve ever experienced.

Having a shared kitchen on every floor was also a very nice touch. You can get ice and hot water, and the kitchen even has pots and a microwave. The parking area is part of a shopping mall, which is located right downstairs, so we had no issues with free parking at all.

The DDP station is about a 6–7 minute walk away, and there are three subway lines there. I wouldn’t even look for another hotel next time I’d definitely stay here again.

Great Location, Mixed Experience but Amazing Service from One Staff Member

A few weeks ago I stayed at the Skypark Kingstown Hotel in Dongdaemun. Overall, the room was slightly smaller than I expected, but it was still quite comfortable.

The real reason I’m leaving this review is to highlight the service, both the good and the bad.

Unfortunately, the front desk staff didn’t speak or understand English at all. I speak English with an Australian accent, and they couldn’t understand me, which was very frustrating. Honestly, I was surprised. How can a hotel not have English-speaking staff at reception? When I asked for a nail clipper, I think they misunderstood and thought I was asking for slippers. So late at night, an engineer came up to my room and politely handed me a pair of slippers.

But here’s where things turned around.

That engineer, who told me to just call him Lee, turned out to be fluent in English because he had lived in California for a long time. What a coincidence — I also live in California. I had already translated my request using Google Translate, but to my surprise, I didn’t need it at all. Lee and I had a great conversation, and he even took the time to explain nearby restaurants and convenience spots.

What really touched me was that I had a bad stomachache that night, and even though it was past midnight, Lee helped me find medicine using his own break time. I don’t remember his full name, but he said his Korean name means “today” in Korean. It really felt like he was someone who would help me anytime, any day.

If you're a foreigner who speaks English and needs assistance, I strongly recommend asking for Lee. The front desk staff weren’t helpful, and to be honest, I was quite upset about that. But thanks to Lee’s dedication and kindness, my stay ended up being much more comfortable than it could’ve been.

Also, the location is fantastic. You can see the famous DDP (Dongdaemun Design Plaza) right in front of the hotel. K-pop Demon Hunters fans will definitely recognize it.

It was our second stay here and it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived the staff was very welcoming and the check in went smoothly. Our room was smaller than the first time we stayed but definitely comfortable and beautifully decorated. I love that this hotel provides convince store which I believe is open all the time. Overall I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Seoul since it's great value for the money and has fantastic location. It's just a short walk to the famous Dongdaemun plaza where you have both metro and bus station that provide easy access to many of Seoul's most popular attractions.

Hotel Skypark Kingstown Dongdaemun is advertised as a 4-star hotel, but in reality, it feels more like a solid 3-star. The beds aren’t very comfortable, and the rooms are quite compact—though that’s typical for Korea. Housekeeping staff were friendly and attentive, which I appreciated.
Breakfast was on the pricey side considering the limited selection, so I’d recommend eating elsewhere unless it’s included in your stay. The location is a big plus—right next to Hyundai City Outlets and a market, making it easy to shop and explore.
Not many dining options inside the hotel, and the small convenience store didn’t have much variety. However, there’s a communal kitchen on every floor, which is a nice touch for budget-conscious travelers. I also liked that they provided free bottled water daily.
Overall, it’s a decent choice for a budget-friendly stay in a great location, but don’t expect true 4-star service or amenities.
