The Classic 500 Pentaz Executive Residence

Stayed here for a week during our baby moon. The room is spacious and whatnot but it was very run down. There was black mold in the shower and bathroom. We had booked a king sized bed but they had a queen & full in the room. They could not accommodate a late checkout at the end even though we requested one when checking in and were assured that it would be taken care of.
Sure enough we needed to use when both my wife and I got sick but they claimed the hotel was fully booked. While waiting in the lobby I checked availability and they did have multiple rooms for the day we were checking out.
Their buffet is not worth the $60/person. We were forced to pay at the buffet the one time we used it. It’s supposed to be handled at checkout per their policy. I paid in cash. They charged us at checkout for it again. When we pointed it out they took sometime to give us a refund but at the end they double charged our card. We were still in the lobby (our ride to the airport wasn’t till 3pm so we were sitting here for 3-4hours) when we noticed the second charge on our CC. Tried talking to the front desk again but they insisted it was a refund. It shows up as a legitimate charge on our statement and not a refund (our total $ on card even reflects that).
Keep your receipts from this place, especially if you’re a foreigner. Luckily everything was put on a CC and we will be disputing those charges.

This is our 2nd time staying at The Classic 500 Pentaz. It's not your typical hotel, ie. No room service. But I doubt you'd find a room this large for the price anywhere in Seoul. The rooms are huge. If you have a long stay, this is the place to stay. Terrific location. Next to metro line #2. Adjacent to a large mall with a grocery store, Lotte dept. store, dozens of restaurants. This is our goto place to stay in Seoul. The gym is huge. Breakfast buffet is OK. Not as good as our 1st stay.

The apartment/hotel is quite nice, with everything in place. The service is excellent and staff are always happy to help. The young lady at the front desk, named Hera Kim is very friendly, professional and more than happy to help whenever we needed. Its wonderful that the hotel has such a thoughtful and kind person.
The hotel is conveniently located near to Lotte deparment store and situated around stores like convenience stores, emart and food malls. The apartment is also closely located to the train station making it a great choice to travel and stay.

We have stayed at the Classic 500 several times over the last few years. The location is great walking distance to shopping, restaurants, bars and mass transit. It is also close to recreation along the Han River.

That said, our last visit wasn’t great. The primary issue is that the room we always stay in 1503 is listed as a suite with a king size bed. When we arrived they had furnished it with a double and a single separated by a nightstand. When we complained they said since we are two men that that should be fine. My husband and I were astonished to say the least. When we said we could just move the nightstand and push the beds together they said no we can’t do that. After much complaining they finally sent someone to bring a second nightstand and push the beds together.

Other issues were:
1) There was a distinctive vape smell. The unit has grass cloth wallpaper which has apparently absorbed the odor from previous guests.
2) The humidity level was so low we couldn’t sleep well.
3) The housekeeper complained when we asked her to make the room in the afternoon.

All and all I think the Classic 500 is still pretty good value but I don’t think we want the hassle of staying here again especially the attitude of the staff. This is not the level of a true five star hotel.

The customer service I received from the two men at the front desk (3/12-5/12) as well as the doorman was amazing. I stayed in a three person room and couldn't believe how grand it was for the price I paid. It felt like a penthouse apartment, and not to mention how convenient it was to have the Star City Mall right next door.

I like how the hotel isn't located in the middle of the more touristy areas of Seoul. Additionally, most of the rooms are accessible (hand rails near toilet and shower), so i believe this would be great for elderly and maybe disabled guests as well.

Although I appreciate how they are an environmentally concious hotel, I would much prefer if they provided disposable amenities when requested instead of charging for them. I have noticed that some parts of the room seem to be a little worn (chipped wall corners and ripped bed covers, for example) and would recommend them to fix it to make future stays more enjoyable.

Overall, I would be recommending this hotel to my friends and family and would love to book with them again the next time I'm in Korea!
