Samhaein Tourist Hotel, Jeju

Great Location. Staff is rude. Have no idea of what hospitality means. I could understand is the way locals are, but this is a hotel that receives international guests.

At first, I was happy with this hotel - clean room, decent amenities, and a convenient location. But that changed quickly after just one day. I came back after being out all day to find my room hadn’t been cleaned. Not a huge issue, I just needed more towels. So I went down to the front desk - only to walk into a heated argument between a male staff member and another guest over a refund. He was clearly frustrated, but instead of handling things professionally, he took that frustration out on me. When I politely asked for towels, he started huffing, shaking his head, sighing loudly, muttering under his breath, and speaking to me through a Chinese translator - even though I told him several times that I didn’t understand Chinese. He refused to explain anything and kept repeating that I “couldn’t add towels.” I calmly asked about the cleaning schedule - whether I needed to request it, if it was every other day, etc. - but he didn’t respond. Instead, he slammed two towels onto the counter and said “service,” basically trying to get me to leave. I’ve never been disrespected by hotel staff like that in my life. The level of unprofessionalism and rudeness was honestly shocking. I don’t care how cheap the rate is - I will never stay here again. No discount is worth being treated with that kind of blatant disrespect.

Good location. It is near to shops, buses (we took the bus from airport) and restaurants. Good for 4 of us with 2 double beds. There is kettle, fridge and 4 mineral water bottles. Unfortunately only 2 glasses provided, when I ask for 2 more, frontdesk guys says 2 is maximum (?)

Retro 90s hotel vibe, intentional or not. Definitely not for everyone. However a win for those on a budget or can appreciate the charms of a retro hotel.

Clean bathrooms, hard beds, quiet night sleep, good amenities. What more can you ask for if you're a budget traveller! Go out and explore Jeju!

Great location and the front lobby staff was polite. However, do take note that it's an old budget hotel with old facilities (such as a central A/C unit). Walls are thin and we could hear loud footsteps in the middle of the night. Room, toilet and sheets were very clean.
