The giant hotel gym has a real squat rack (not a Smith machine) and a real bench press, along with tons of machines, mats, stationaries, and treadmills and (can pay for) sauna.
The room is decent, room service is ok, walk from the station is a little far 10 minutes uphill, restaurant were lackluster, the breakfast was decent with omelet chef. But it has an extraordinarily good gym, the best for a hotel I've ever stayed at. 5 stars purely for that.
I spent one week in Korea, staying two nights at Four Seasons Seoul and five nights at Mondrian Seoul Itaewon through the Chase Luxury Hotel Program.
To be honest, I expected Four Seasons to be the highlight of my trip. In terms of facilities, room size, and overall luxury, it certainly lived up to its reputation.
However, when I look back on my time in Seoul, the hotel that left the strongest impression on me was unexpectedly Mondrian.
On the day I moved from Four Seasons, my request for a late check-out could not be accommodated, so I arrived at Mondrian around 11:30 AM, well before check-in time. I completely understood that my room would not be ready and was not expecting any special treatment.
What impressed me was how the situation was handled.
Jayden and Jay at the Front Desk explained that an early check-in and upgrade were not available due to occupancy. While it was not the answer I was hoping for, they handled it with professionalism and genuine care. Rather than focusing on what they could not do, they focused on what they could do.
They offered access to the facilities, suggested ways to spend my time comfortably, and made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived.
They simply made me feel valued.
That may sound like a small thing, but it is surprisingly rare, even at luxury hotels.
Throughout my stay, I noticed the same attitude from other employees. Whether at the Front Desk or with the Concierge team, interactions felt natural rather than scripted. One of the highlights of my trip was the DMZ tour recommended by the Concierge team, which turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of my visit to Korea.
The room itself was smaller than I expected, especially compared to some other luxury hotels in Seoul. However, I spent most of my time exploring the city, and the room was comfortable, clean, and perfectly suited my needs.
This trip reminded me of something important: hotels are ultimately about people.
Beautiful facilities matter, but years later travelers rarely remember the marble in the bathroom or the size of the room. They remember how they were treated.
Four Seasons was excellent, and their employees were highly professional.
Yet Mondrian surprised me in a way I did not expect.
The positive experience was not limited to one employee or one interaction. It felt like part of the hotel’s culture. As a guest, it was clear that this level of hospitality does not happen by accident.
While Jayden, Jay, and the other team members I encountered deserve tremendous credit, I would also like to recognize the General Manager and the Director of Rooms for building a culture where genuine hospitality seems to come naturally.
As I write this review from the back seat of a taxi on my way to the airport, looking out at the beautiful Han River at night, I find myself reflecting on the people who made this stay memorable.
Before leaving, the valet team helped arrange my taxi, assisted with my luggage, and saw me off with the same warmth and professionalism I experienced throughout my stay. It was a small gesture, but a perfect ending.
My sincere thanks to the valet team, the concierge team, Jayden, Jay, and everyone else who made my stay so enjoyable.
Four Seasons will be remembered for its facilities.
Mondrian, however, will be remembered for its people.
And for that reason, if I return to Seoul in the future, I would gladly stay at Mondrian again.
The Modrian came recommended to us by friends who have previously stayed there. The quality of the hotel is immediately obvious as you step inside - high quality finishes, luxury looking spaces and nice staff.
After a slight hiccup with confusion over payment methods we were up to our room - again, lovely finishes (I don’t live an open bathroom situation but that’s just personal preference). Probably the part of the hotel that I liked the least was the additional charges for use of the facilities which are not advertised before your stay. It’s extra to use the outdoor pool, extra to use the sauna, etc. which at the price point that we were paying per night was pretty surprising.
We enjoyed our stay enough but not sure we would return.
Billy made our stay a wonderful experience from start to finish. He greeted us warmly at check-in and made the process smooth and welcoming. During check-out, he went above and beyond to assist us and ensured everything was handled efficiently.
BILLY is genuinely friendly, kind, and highly knowledgeable. His professionalism and willingness to help truly stood out and made a lasting impression. It’s clear that he cares about providing excellent service, and his positive attitude made our experience even better. We truly appreciate his support and would gladly return because of the outstanding service he provided.
WE WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK TO THIS HOTEL BECAUSE OF AMAZING ALL THE STAFF FROM THE ENTRANCE, FRONT DESK, HOUSEKEEPING, RESTAURANTS, ROOM SERVICE, GYM/SPA AND EVERYONE!! Thank you so much!!!
A Social, Design-Forward Escape in Itaewon
Staying at Mondrian Seoul Itaewon felt bold, energetic, and unapologetically stylish. This is not just a hotel, it is a social lifestyle destination that perfectly reflects the spirit of Itaewon itself.
I stayed in the Suite City King, a beautifully laid out 44 sqm suite with a dedicated living room and large picture windows overlooking the neighborhood. The natural light during the day made the space feel open and uplifting, while evenings felt intimate and cozy. The soaking tub added a relaxing contrast to the dynamic energy outside, and details like the SIMMONS Beautyrest mattress, Grown Alchemist amenities, and Bluetooth speaker made the stay feel both polished and playful.
The design language throughout the hotel is unmistakably Mondrian. Bold, artistic, and experience-driven. The lobby and public spaces feel curated and expressive, encouraging you to linger rather than pass through. It is the kind of place where you naturally want to dress up, meet friends, and stay out a little longer.
Location here is everything. Just minutes from the vibrant streets of Itaewon, I found myself going out clubbing multiple nights because it was simply too convenient not to. Returning to the hotel after a late night felt seamless, like the energy of the neighborhood flowed directly into the stay.
Facilities are equally impressive. The gym is spacious and well equipped, the indoor pool and sauna offer a calm reset, and Altitude Pool & Lounge adds another layer of atmosphere. Breakfast at Cleo and cocktails at Rumpus Room completed the experience, especially with the added suite benefits.
With attentive service, strong personality, and an unbeatable location, Mondrian Seoul Itaewon delivers a stay that feels social, stylish, and distinctly alive.
I had a wonderful stay at the Mondrian Seoul. The hotel is new, modern, and beautifully designed, with an exceptionally attentive and professional team. I stayed in a corner suite, which was spacious, extremely comfortable, and perfect for relaxing after long days in the city. All services were excellent from start to finish. I would especially like to thank concierge Jenny Park and her team, who were incredibly helpful, attentive, and truly went above and beyond—working small miracles to assist me with everything I needed. Overall, it was a flawless experience. The hotel is perfectly located in Itaewon, close to everything the neighborhood has to offer. A truly 10/10 stay
Everything was so perfect! The hotel is amazing. Incredibile breakfast, very nice rooms, may be a bit on the small side but as European I love that. Cleaning service was perfect, front desk was always quick and helpful. It is located in the perfect area, close to Myeongdong and also to Gagnam. Bars and restaurants are also very nice. Everyone was so kind and helpful. I love it.
The pros: The hotel was beautiful and we had easy access to many shops in the basement. Service was great and staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. It is about a 15 min walk to Itaewon station and 30min walk to Hannamdong with lots of cute cafes and shops along the way. The location was perfect for me as it’s central but quiet. Breakfast was great and I loved the daily morning porridge section.
Cons: The room had no AC as it was winter and it was steaming hot. When I called the staff for help they suggested opening the windows and provided a fan. It was a bit more bearable after that but 24C- 27C is really not the optimal temperature for sleep, winter or not. The design of the shower and bathrooms were also rather strange, but it didn’t bother me that much. I did have to clean the floors after every shower though. The lifts were also really slow, and it took me about 5 whole mins to get from the lift lobby to the first floor.
Overall not too bad, but I won’t be back for winter.
