This place is only for the absolute bravest of souls. How this place is even allowed to operate is beyond me. This building legitimately should break every zoning violation in the book. Most the windows don't even work, so I hope you don't come here in the Winter.
Any one-star reviews are legit. I would not recommend any woman stay here. This place is pretty much just a homeless shelter, but not as nice. It's a complete dump. Almost all of the rooms are closets, and I almost mean that literally. There's enough room for a child sized bed and a shelf, and that's it. If you HAVE to stay here, I only recommend room 409 because it clearly used to be two rooms, that were converted into one medium-sized room. Everything else are closets. Oh, and did I mention the actual hostel is on the FOURTH FLOOR with NO elevator! Better hope you don't mind stairs.
The front doors at the building entrance are left wide open so literally anyone can walk in and let the cold in, and most of the rooms have no keys unless you make a request for one, so anyone could also just walk in and steal your stuff. There's pretty much no shower; not really, and the bathrooms themselves make you feel like you could catch Hep C. The women's bathrooms are even WORSE than the men's ones, which have disgusting long hair and dusty old spider webs everywhere! It doesn't matter though, as this place doesn't get women anyway. And WHY would they put the bathrooms immediately next to the "kitchen"? And yes, the kitchen has bugs and open bags of food everywhere.
The Wifi here is some of the worst I've ever seen and can't keep a signal longer than five minutes before dropping for a random amount of time.
One thing I will say is, it is actually dirt cheap. About $7 to $13 a night. That's the one "good" thing I can say and the only reason I chose this place, even before I arrived. If you DO stay here, it should only be for two nights MAXIMUM. And you should only come here to sleep, not lounge about. Due to unfortunate circumstances plus COVID delaying my job, I had to spend 21 days in this dump while waiting to start my new job (not for quarantine; I never had COVID).
I would not recommend this place to ANYONE unless you're desperate and almost homeless, like I was inbetween starting a job across Korea for a month. Or you're brave enough, and male, to endure being one notch above homeless, which is what this experience will be.
The smell of constant smoke going into my room gave me a headache. The place is a bit run down but cheap and in a good location. The guys in charge are very nice and helpful! Good experience overall and I stayed there for a month.
This is a doss house not a hostel. Full of old men watching TV, yelling and smoking. No aircon or air flow. Toilet was full of dirty paper. I ended up leaving at 10pm to find another place. Don't bother here
Its super cheap while staying here you can see every place in seoul its awesome the owener is an amazing person check out the pictures i took from the top floor you can get to see this for a very cheap price
Songpa Hostel is a good place to stay on a budget. It is under new management and offers an environment that is a little bit more quiet and out of the way than your usual traveler's hostel, while still offering the central location to Jamsil, Lotte World, and the 2 Subway line. It is more geared toward the student, teacher or long term guest. It has everything you need, and you can't beat the price. Both wired and wireless internet is excellent, and the hot water temperature and pressure for the showers is much better than the other hostels I have stayed at in Seoul. All in all, a good bargain and a peaceful place to live.
