The Island Blue

We stayed on the top floor. They could include some power points by the bed and some bath towels as all they had were hand towels.

1) We are not happy with the rush to check out. The day before we went to the reception to ask for late check out, the lady at reception told us it is 12pm for late check out. Hence we were planned to check out at 12pm. But around 1115am, we received a call to vacate the room. We told them that later check out was request to 12pm. The guy came up to tell us to vacate within 3 mins which makes it 1130am. If not it will be changed with another $22k won. We were not prepared but we had to throw all into the luggage and vacate asap. This is a very bad experience. At least 15 mins should be given if they do not want to honor the 12pm late check out.

2) Another issue is you get what u paid. The bed has a squeaky sound everytime we flip sides. The bed sheet came off every night.
3) Cu minimart is not opened and it is a self service kiosk where you need to scan something to enter and self pay, and there is no English translation on how to enter, we couldn’t enter at all.
4) Parking space is very limited.
5)No luggage weighing machine for guest to weigh.
6) there is no bath towel, you need to use hand towel to wipe
7) shampoo conditioner and body wash are outside the bath room, expecting us to step out naked to press the shampoo? Or they expect us to put the shampoo on floor needing to squat down everytime u need a press? Thankfully no elderly with us, if not they would have a hard time squatting and standing to shower
8)  lastly, (repeated) the guy should check with the lady staff instead of forcing us to vacate by 1130am giving us only 3 minutes to prep when we were granted 12pm for late check out. This is really bad that we had to eat breakfast in car and repack our luggage in car. We didn’t even have time to brush the teeth. I think at least a 15 mins is good.

The only plus point is room is big. But flooring has some sharp edge that torn my sock. But this is ok. Sock is not expensive and planned to discard after the trip.

Pros:
1. Location
2. Room size and bed
3. Great strong shower head
4. Provides 2 small bottles of drinking water
Cons:
1. No kettle
2. No coffee/tea
3. Toilet doors are dysfunctional (cannot close fully - cold air goes in and it’s cold)
4. Allocated only 100l of hot water for shower. Else need to wait for 30mins for water to heat up.
5. Only hand towels provided. No bath towels.
6. Housekeeping only clears rubbish, replenish new hand towels and provide 2 bottles of drinking water. Bed is not made up.
7. Parking is a distance away from hotel.

i've got the 601 room which didn't had the sea view. They do have a stretch of rooms which faces the sea.

Room
The room was pretty big for the price. It should be about 50 -60m2. It has 1 double and 2 single bed which could sleep a family comfortably. There is also a small couch. Open concept kitchen, no utensils, only 2 cups and kettle.

Toilet and Bathroom
This area look relatively new compare to the rest of the room. It can pass off as a 4 star hotel toilet and bathroom. The toilet and bathroom area is separated. They do not provide bath towels as Korean usually go to public hot bath with face towels. There are 8 face towels in the room.

Bed
Personally the mattress isn't great. Maybe similar to a 3 star hotel mattress, some hard area where you could feel the spring. The sheets provided are great Egyptian cotton just like the usual 5 star hotels.

Location
Conveniently located. Walking distance to attractions and market. There is also a CU convenient store (24hr) at level 1 of the hotel. However you will need a Korean credit card to open the door for self check out service whenever the cashier is not around. Cashier working hours appears to be 5.30pm -11pm.

Overall
It is decent experience staying with them. It is a good place overall. Reception was helpful to constantly open the door of CU for us. Generally, they cater to a lot of local Koreans travelers.

In terms of location, it's a great choice for exploring trails and Seogwipo. The rooms are spacious, clean and bright, with a decent view. The main concern is the service. I won't touch on the language barrier as Google Translate works in most cases, but the front desk staff was disengaged and wasn't helpful for our requests or questions. We booked a stay for 5 people, but were provided with only 4 sets of amenities, and were denied an extra cup when requested. There are also no shower towels, and this should be mentioned on the booking as we'd have brought our own instead of trying to improvise with face towels that were available.
