Shalom Hotel Jeju

The hotel is in a strategic location. It’s just around 10-15 minutes by car from the airport which costs under 10k won. There are many restaurants and convenient stores around. Olive young and Daiso are in walkable distance. The room is not too big and the condition is not very new but it has smart TV and auto toilet :))

The only minus maybe is it far from some famous landmark in Jeju but if you rent a car, it’s not a problem as those landmarks are far from each other as well.

Overall this is a worthy experience to enjoy Jeju in the winter, the weather is not too cold but it was sunny and a bit chilling.

I would not rate this as a 4 star hotel - I think it’s definitely closer to a 3 star. Location is convenient but note that the parking garage is VERY TIGHT. The wifi is VERY spotty.

Official hotel ratings in Korea are not based on quality - they are based on things like size of lobby and on-site food offerings, so they’re easy to game.

This “4-star hotel” had dingy rooms with torn wallpaper and worn-away carpets. There was water damage and mildew in the bathroom, and water was leaking from an unidentified source. The stucco exterior had chunks missing from it by the windowsill.

The pillows were flat, and when I asked for an additional one, they tried to charge me for it.

Not the standard of quality or service I would expect from a 4-star hotel.

Strongly don't recommend this hotel. Really unpleasant experience. Cannot live up to a four starred hotel expectation.
Hotel reception denied our group's request to turn on air-conditioning for our rooms. According to the staff, they only turn on air conditioning from April onwards, regardless of warmer temperature near end March. We experienced rude service throughout our stay, with no smile at all from the reception to housekeeping personnel. The restaurant manager demanded that we return our cockery, utensils, and tray to the tray return section. Only our group, despite seeing them, cleared the tables for others.The front desk manager argued with our group leader in Korean, over room allocation during checking in, and complimentary breakfast issues. Their hotel restaurant is akin to a cafeteria setting. Breakfast food choices are very limited and utterly unpalatable. Coffee lacks flavours.

If you're expecting this hotel to be more resort-like then this review may not be for you. But coming from NYC, my stay at Jeju was great. Location is accessible to many bus stops so you can hit as many sites as quickly as possible. The rooms are large! We got two rooms for the family and they were happy to accommodate for the rooms to be right next to each other (note not connecting rooms). Each rooms had kettle, AC, tabletop, an arm rest chair, and a nice bathtub! If I recall, they do not have any razor as amenities, but we brought our own so that was fine.

The staffs were very welcoming too. On our first day, my brother lost his wallet and the kind lady with the glasses were very helpful in translating to the bus company. I think she can speak Korean, English, and Chinese very well, and I am glad for her help!
