PROS: Good size room, spacious. We’ve booked a room with twin beds, and it’s perfect because we have 4 luggages and we can open them up easily. Beds are comfortable and big.
Good location. Close proximity to a lot of markets, but not right in the heart, which is nice.
Free bottled water, and some toiletries. They replenish the toiletries everyday. But bring your own toothbrushes. There is a cafe and restaurant on site.
Daily room cleaning provided. Staff are nice and friendly. Currency exchange machine on lobby, and you can also get a wow pass here.
A few convenient stores nearby. It’s a 10min walk to a subway station but the walk is super easy because it’s on flat terrain.
CONS: No aircon during May, but they provided us with a fan. The sensor light is a bit irritating
because it will come on during the night and wake us up. I wish they had a curtain or some screening from bed to bath/sink area because of the sensor light. The sauna is not working at the moment.
My detailed review of Orakai Daehakro Hotel
This was my first time in Seoul, and I was really nervous about booking a hotel. I checked countless locations and reviews. At first, I had booked a different hotel, but at the very last moment I changed it to Orakai Daehakro Hotel — and it turned out to be the best decision.
1. Location
First of all, there are many bus stops around the hotel, so it’s very easy to get anywhere in the city. Either there is a stop right next to the hotel, or you only need to walk a few minutes.
Second, everything you might need is right nearby: Olive Young, convenience stores, restaurants, and cafés. There is also a café inside the hotel itself.
Third, one of the most beautiful places in Seoul, Changdeokgung Palace, is just a one-minute walk away. From there, you can walk to Bukchon Hanok Village, then continue to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, and more.
Fourth, the famous Gwangjang Market is only about a 7-minute walk away.
So you are surrounded by so many great places. For me, this was perfect because I don’t like noise — it was wonderful to come back from the busy city center to a quiet, peaceful area.
2. The room
The room was spacious and comfortable, with everything you could need — and even more: towels, bedding, bathrobes, slippers, tea, and so on. My room had a lot of sunlight, and I could even see the Seoul Tower from the window. It was genuinely pleasant to spend time in the room and take photos there.
There were some signs of previous use in the room, but it didn’t really bother me and didn’t affect my overall experience. I think some guests just need to be a bit more careful with their suitcases.
The bed was very comfortable and crisp. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job — they would proactively offer to replace things and always asked if I needed anything. I really appreciated that.
3. Staff
The staff were extremely polite and helpful in every situation. They always tried to assist and make things easier for you. You constantly feel that you can ask any question and you will be helped. They also took care of my luggage before check-in. And there was even a cute photo booth in the hotel.
I was left with only positive impressions. So positive that I already booked this hotel again for September. I didn’t even consider any other options — this one is definitely my choice.
Although further than the city centre. This place was super clean and the gym was amazing. While I was here the spa was renovating and was out of use. None the less I highly recommend this place. It also isn't walking distance from Seoul city centre as an FYI.
We had an excellent stay at Orakai Daehakro Hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean, the amenities were new and well maintained, and the housekeeping staff kept everything spotless each day.
Although it isn’t the closest to the train network, there are plenty of bus services that conveniently connect the hotel to many popular spots in Seoul.
Really great hotel - rooms are clean and comfortable but not huge. A few things to consider for travellers:
1) For some reason as well when we came (late November) there was 24/7 aircon in the room which we couldn’t turn off?
2) nearest subway station is a 10 minute walk but the hotel is well located for all the main central attractions.
I did want to say however that the service here is incredible - the night we arrived my partner had left her phone in the taxi and the receptionist tracked it down within 5 minutes of us getting to our room.
