JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul

JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul offered a quiet luxury experience in this very busy area.

This was the second time we visited this hotel, and I booked the Sky View Room this time instead of the standard room. I think it was well worth it. Compared to the standard room, the sofa by the window offered more flexible space for two people and the room had a darker, more Zen-like design. The shower temperature was more stable this time as well. We were expecting a bit more from the turndown service. At JW Marriott Tokyo, they offered pillow mist and music playlist recommendations.

The gym at Club 501 was 11 out of 10! It is simply the best gym we have ever seen. We loved the layout, the beautiful interior design, and how quiet it was. Most importantly, it was fully equipped, which made it stand out from other hotel gyms that look fancy but offer only limited equipment. We also visited the sauna and it was nice as well.

We visited Tavolo 24 for breakfast and dinner. The manager and the staff were very professional and warm. It was a pity that I didn’t discover that abalone porridge was available for breakfast until the last day of our stay. The staff showed me how much sauce to add, and the porridge tasted amazing. I had two bowls of it. As for dinner, the staff prepared a welcome card written in Mandarin for us, which was a very sweet gesture. The food was good overall, and I especially liked the halibut sashimi and the grilled lobster.

All the staff were very nice and professional. Our messages and requests were responded to promptly. KIM DOYEON (Daeny) and Ben at the front desk made perfect arrangements and provided great assistance. Oliver was on leave, so we didn’t see him this time.

In terms of transportation, the hotel is exceptionally well located and extremely convenient. The subway entrance is directly accessible from the hotel’s B1 level through the bakery. From the hotel, you can reach almost anywhere in Seoul within 20–30 minutes by car, bus, or subway.

Overall, although the room was slightly smaller than my usual preference (ideally at least 40 square meters), the impeccable gym, excellent dining, outstanding service, and convenient location gave us every reason to return.

Everything about this hotel was first rate. The service was impeccable. Roy Oh from guest services provided us with exceptional customer experience. This was our second time staying at this hotel and we will come back in next year. We really appreciate the way the staff goes the extra yard to make our stay more enjoyable.

Hard to beat this location very close to everything, yet not too touristy. I love the small shops in the area. It’s a quiet neighborhood, and all public transportation is right next to the hotel. What I don’t understand is why guests are charged extra for basic toiletries like toothpaste, cotton balls, Q-tips, and a shower cap. The lounge and food, however, are wonderful. I’m not sure I’ll stay here again, as I’d like to explore other areas of the city, but for a first-time visit, it’s definitely worth it!

It was a comfortable stay but I gave 4 out of 5 because i called for room service for coffee / cream and they informed me that room service did not start till 6:30am. I also stayed at JW hotel in Gangnam and the Fairmont on my 18 day vacation in Seoul and they not only delivered coffee/ cream at 4 and 5 am they both had fitness room that was open 24 hrs( fairmont provided water bottle at the gym) Bathroom was also too dark for my taste. Too be fair my daughter stayed in a suite and would probably have given it a 5 since she doesn’t need room service or gym. House keeping, reception and bell men were friendly and accommodating.

Everything is excellent! The staff is always helpful with great attention to detail. I personally also enjoy the hotels gym! It is gigantic and offers everything you need to keep the gym routine going! The room is also spacious and spotless clean. We love it here and shall return! I forgot the mention the amazing food and breakfast buffet! Out of this world.

Highly recommend this hotel. Biggest plus is the extremely hospitable staff. They are friendly, professional, multilingual, and always do the most. The location is also nicely situated above an underground station and across from beautiful Heunginjimun Gate.

The pool and spa are gorgeous and immaculately clean. The gym is also well appointed and top notch (well it looked that way, I didn't actually work out) which might be useful since Seoul is so delicious.

If you're debating whether to get the breakfast, DO IT! The buffet spread is huge and everything we tried was awesome. Highly recommend the Korean and Japanese sections. Coffee is also excellent.
