HAN River Residence & Guesthouse

I booked 5 nights but left early because the room had mold, even on the bathroom slippers. The owner denied it at first and refused any refund, only offering to change rooms the next day. In the meantime, I had to leave my luggage in a storage room that also housed dogs and cats—where I even saw dog feces on the floor. The place might look nice at first, but the hygiene and management were very disappointing. I would not recommend this guesthouse.

We left accommodation early. Small rooms. Towels were only hand towels. Bed was not comfortable. The location is difficult to access. It is very hilly. And accommodation is potential fire risk. Clutter in the common areas. If you like cats and dogs, they have 2 friendliest doggies and a couple of cats. Although it is close to trains in distance, it is all up hill and would be difficult with luggage and if you have low fitness level. The staff were pleasant enough.

I will start by saying that the value is brilliant for a private room in Seoul, however there were a few restrictions (did feel as if I was staying in someone’s home rather than a hotel) and there was a slight smell/cleanliness issues in the room. Also the location is up a STEEP hill, which some taxi drivers refuse to even go up and which I struggled with luggage as an able bodied 26 year old male.

Had a really nice comfortable stay, the room was perfectly clean and it had everything I needed, the location is near a metro station and even though the uphill part, the area is full of bars restaurants convenience stores and feels very alive. Thank you to the owner, and to Sami the guy from Colombia who gave me many good recommendations and was always around with good energy and a smile. I will be back

Stayed at the guestroom for 5 days. My experience was okay and the room was spacious. Clean towels, useful amenities, and most importantly, there was a luggage storage which was really helpful for me as I arrived in Seoul hours before check-in time. The downside of this guesthouse though is the location — you have to walk uphill for a good 10 minutes from Mapo station and there isn’t much establishments nearby. I was getting tired from bringing my luggage up the road so I checked my phone to see if I was close to the guesthouse and I actually was, but saw the last pathway I’d have to climb up (see photo attached 🥲). It was especially dreading for me to walk going back to the guesthouse after a long day of going around the city 😅 Services were okay and I was told to contact them whenever I needed anything, but the location is truly a disadvantage especially if you’re older or if you have luggages with you. :(
