Everden Hotel

The lighting in the building is low and dingy. Kinda makes you wonder why they want it so dark in the building. The rooms smell strongly of perfume while an underlying cigarette smoke smell. The rooms don’t seem like they are being well maintained. There are multiple light bulbs that are dead in the room. The room is smelly and when you open the window, cigarette smoke wafts in from the parking area where people smoke. I was on the 9th floor. There’s an air purifier in the room but doesn’t seem to work very well because the room is still smelly after running it for all day. The waterfall shower head doesn’t work well and has low pressure. The mini fridge is very small and only really good for storing drinks. The walls have stuff splattered on them and nicks in the sheet rock. The bathroom seems fairly clean, although weird stuff splattered on the ceiling. There was a ceiling tile that was slightly open and I was worried it was like that because of a hidden camera, but after opening it more and looking, there was not a camera. The bed is comfortable, soft but not overly soft. There’s a clothing refresher closet in the room which is pretty cool and will take the wrinkles out of your clothes. It’s close to the market and subway so a good location. The front desk staff were all nice and friendly. The price is okay. I probably wouldn’t stay again because of the smell of cigarettes and perfume in the room. Otherwise it was an okay place to stay.

I booked a weekday 1-night Premium Spa Room through the Yeogi Eottae app.

I arrived by pedal, and the hotel's only entrance is located on the main road.

Since the hotel building is obscured by other buildings at the front and back, if you go to the back of the building when entering by car, there is no entrance.

There is a parking lot next to the building with spaces for about 8 cars, as well as 2 handicapped parking spots.

From the moment I received the room key at the front desk after parking, to the notice in front of the elevator stating that the British Lauren Williams Ultimate mattress had been installed, to the interior of the elevator and the hallways leading to the rooms, I kept thinking, "What is this???" This isn't a motel.

I definitely booked a motel considering my light wallet, but this was a condition I had never experienced before in any of the few motels I’ve visited.

I was assigned room 502 on the 5th floor, and when I opened the door, the interior design went beyond a motel; it was at a level you would see in a high-end version of a business hotel.

The scent in the room was exactly like that of a standard hotel—not to mention—so the discomfort from the slight trouble I experienced after parking vanished completely.

The slight trouble was when I was taking photos of the building for a review as usual after self-parking; some guy asked why I was taking pictures. Actually, I get asked this question so often that I have a bit of trauma from it.

Do I not look like a reviewer? When I asked who the gentleman was, he said he was the hotel owner. Of course, when I told him I was a guest taking photos for a review, the owner seemed pleased.

First off, the bathtub—the biggest reason I chose this room—was clean. The water pressure was like a waterfall (though it didn't even come close to Niagara Falls), and it had a jet spa function.

The toilet was clean and even had a bidet. Notably, the shower area and bathtub were separate, and the glass at the hand-washing area had an adjustable light.

There were plenty of towels: one large towel and four regular towels, enough for a half-bath.

Basic amenities like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were attached to the wall.

For disposable amenities, you pay a hefty 1,000 won upfront at the front desk, and they refund you if you don't use them in the room.

But I was so satisfied with the room that I completely forgot to get that hefty 1,000 won back when I checked out! Since the Everden Hotel has already ranked as my top choice for a re-stay near Anyang Station, I'm sure they'll give me a hefty 1,000 won back if I mention it next time I stay, right? lol

As for the mattress that the hotel emphasizes, it has completely erased the comparisons from all the overseas hotels and domestic motels I've stayed in recently.

The mattress molds my body shape the moment I lie down. Seeing that it says "Lauren Williams Ultimate," I felt like it was "dangerous outside the covers." ^^

As for the cleanliness and texture of the bedding, well, words can't describe it!

It is equipped with 4 pillows, and the huge TV viewed from the bed was perfect for eye refreshment, ear care, and self-body care. It was that "Japchae" (Korean glass noodle dish) ^^

You can watch Netflix on the TV, and I heard this is the same for all rooms.

There was a slight disappointment regarding the noise in the room. Since the room is located closest to the elevator, if a guest was talking loudly in front of the elevator, the sound could be heard clearly. However, since the other aspects were so much to my liking, I didn't mind the noise and it didn't cause any major inconvenience during my stay.

Free bottled water, snacks, jam, and disposable cutlery are always available next to the hotel elevator.

There is also a designated area near the hotel entrance for picking up delivery food.

The hotel is located right next to Anyang Central Market, so there are many great restaurants nearby.

Since Anyang Station is nearby, there are plenty of amenities, but there isn't a convenience store right nearby; you have to walk about 5 minutes.

First of all, the owner sitting at the counter was incredibly rude.
I was visiting Korea, and when I brought up any inconveniences during my stay, he told me this was Korea, not the US, and that I had to follow Korean rules. His attitude towards guests was simply unacceptable.
When I asked to extend my stay for another night, he told me how much more they had to charge, since they charge for the room.

He wasn't doing business from the guests' perspective, but was a very strong business tactic focused solely on making money by operating the room. Even if he had said the same thing, he couldn't.
How could the owner, and someone of his age, be so rude? ㅠㅠ
I'll remember this for a long time.
It was truly disappointing to see how a hotel could be run with such a business mindset.
Friendship is a given, but it wasn't.

He lacked the basics.
I guess the owner, who doesn't hire employees, works alone, which is why he's so stressed.
I don't think I'll have any good memories of Anyang, Korea.

The main road in front of the building was under construction, so it was a bit difficult to find the entrance. The parking lot pillars are spaced close together, so novice parkers might have a hard time.

They have late check in time at 5 pm Saturday. They are trying to make money with short term stays. I was very disappointed that none of the their reservations tell they have late check in time, and i had to wait 5 hours. Not recommended.
