The hotel is in a great location, but unfortunately the rooms and overall service left much to be desired. We had two rooms, and each had a different odor. Neither smelled like what I would typically expect from a Marriott property, and the fact that both rooms smelled different raised concerns about the cleanliness and upkeep of the rooms. We were also hot during the night and were told that the AC is turned off at night and the hotel controls the temperature for environmental reason. As a hot sleeper it is uncomfortable for me to sleep hot and AC is important to keep me comfortable. I have never had a hotel control the temperature of guest bedroom due to environmental reason and this is not the price I paid for for a Marriott hotel.
In addition, the man who helped checked us in was not particularly friendly or welcoming, which was disappointing compared to the level of service I have usually experienced at Marriott hotels. As a Marriott Bonvoy member, I’m accustomed to being acknowledged and thanked for my loyalty and status, but that was never mentioned during check-in, making the experience feel less welcoming than other Marriott properties in the area.
The arrival experience was also confusing. We were dropped off on the first floor, where there were no staff members available to assist with luggage or direct guests. We eventually noticed a sign indicating that the lobby was located on the fifth floor, but the lack of guidance made for an unwelcoming first impression.
Lastly, we requested a late checkout and were informed that it could only be granted for one of our two rooms. This was surprising, as I have stayed at numerous Marriott properties and have never encountered this policy before. Because of this, we now have to move all of our luggage into one room on the day of checkout, which is quite inconvenient.
No questions about room, service and location because everything was excellent. The attached mall very conveniently provided the best shopping, dining, café and bakery options.
We were a large group of seven people in four rooms and we were served by an amazingly friendly and patient receptionist by the name of Lucy Kim. Besides her warm smiles, she also gave us excellent ideas for eating and shopping, and recommended us an excellent jampong restaurant at our request. She went above and beyond all standards of service. We also interacted with other Hotel staff and they were all very pleasant and friendly. Thanks a million for training your employees so well.
My stay at Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Times Square was largely enjoyable, thanks especially to its unbeatable location in Yeongdeungpo. The hotel is directly connected to Times Square Seoul, making shopping, dining, and entertainment incredibly convenient. As soon as you exit the elevator at B1, you’ll find Olive Young right in front of you — perfect for picking up last-minute skincare or travel essentials.
Transportation access is another major plus. You can walk through the underground mall directly to Yeongdeungpo Station, which connects you to multiple train and subway lines. In the opposite direction, a slightly longer underground walk takes you to Yeongdeungpo Market Station, offering even more transit options. This makes getting around Seoul extremely easy, whether for sightseeing or business.
The hotel itself is modern and well furnished. The rooms are spacious by Seoul standards, thoughtfully laid out, and comfortable for both short and extended stays. One particularly impressive feature is the in-room water filtration system, which allows guests to refill drinking water easily. This eco-friendly touch significantly reduces the need for plastic bottled water — a small but meaningful sustainability effort. The bathroom is also well equipped, featuring a Japanese-style toilet with a heated seat and integrated bidet, adding an extra layer of comfort.
The only downside during my stay was the club lounge. While it is located on a high floor and offers a pleasant view along with a comfortable seating area, the food and beverage offerings were underwhelming. The lounge serves only canned drinks, some juice and light snacks, with no breakfast service and no evening cocktail hour or substantial food options. For a hotel of this standard, the lounge benefits feel rather limited and may not justify upgrading solely for lounge access.
Overall, Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Times Square is an excellent choice for travelers who value location, convenience, and comfortable rooms. However, expectations for the club lounge should be kept modest.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The front desk team was incredibly warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visit. A special thank you to the front desk manager, Jin, and Diana for assisting with our check-in and kindly offering us a room upgrade — it was such a pleasant surprise and truly appreciated.
The hotel’s location is super convenient, making it easy to get around and explore the area. Overall, a fantastic experience, and we highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting. We would definitely stay here again!
I really enjoyed my stay at Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Times Square, mainly due to its extremely convenient location and excellent shopping options. The hotel is situated right next to Times Square Mall, which already offers plenty of shopping and dining choices. On top of that, there is a Shinsegae Department Store located within Times Square itself, as well as Lotte Department Store just across the street, making this area a paradise for shoppers.
I especially loved that the hotel’s lift lobby connects directly to the mall at the B1 level, with Olive Young located right in front of the lift. It was incredibly convenient to shop, drop my purchases back in the room, and head out again within minutes.
Shopping tip: If you plan to shop at Shinsegae, head to Level 6 with your passport to get a membership card before you start. This entitles you to a 5% discount, which is definitely worth doing.
The staff were helpful and welcoming throughout my stay. A special shout-out to Betty, who truly stood out with her cheerful attitude and willingness to go the extra mile. She was always warm in greeting guests, which made the experience even more pleasant.
One small downside was breakfast on the weekend, which was quite crowded. There was a bit of a wait to get seated at the restaurant, so it’s something to keep in mind if you’re in a hurry.
Overall, it’s a great hotel with an unbeatable location, friendly service, and fantastic access to shopping. I would definitely consider staying here again.
