PIPE HOSTEL DONGDAEMUN

The majority of the staff I encountered here ( arrival day / 2nd day am ) are not well versed ( trained ) in the art of welcoming ie the art of hospitality. In fact my experience was so cold / ungracious I began to seriously feel unsafe. As others have said the rooms are basically windowless unless you count the one tiny window meters away from another building where hot fried greese blows into the room. Shower drain is very slow. Though it was November it was no fun having to deal with 2 mosquitoes in the room. At times the lobby smells ways OFF. No TV in room. Bed is comfortable and on my departure day one of the Korean female staff members was very gracious and considerate in providing information for the airport shuttle bus. Any biz that wants to excell jn customer service does need to understand the fundamentals of how to apologize. I had trouble locating the unit after my request for the address in Korean was denied and no when picked up when I tried calling several times in the middle of the day. When the owner became aware of my dissatisfaction he urged me to contact him immediately : which I did. He was in turn very slow jn replying and his “‘apology “ was truly baffling. Bragging about how how many clients he has had and how he travels to Japan and Italy monthly had no place in an apology and simply reflected how out of touch he is with people’s needs. In addition the front entrance lock was extremely sporadic in its ability to work effectively, paired with a sign that they are not responsible for left luggage : not a good look. Lastly Insisting on a 4 pm check in and a 11 am check out reflects this establishments GREED. And that’s the FACTS!

We booked Pipe Hostel Dongdaemun last minute and i’m so so glad we did! My husband and I really loved the simple and clean aesthetics of Pipe. But most importantly, the location was perfect! There were so many restaurants and cafes around the area. Convenience stores like CU and GS25 are also nearby. Best part is, Pipe was just a 5-min walk from Dongdaemun Design Plaza metro station that conveniently connects to 3 lines!

Clear instructions were given prior to check in and check out. I appreciate that they offer a luggage storage. Fresh towels were available every day as well as bottled water. They also have laundry on the top floor.

A beautiful park named Jangchungdan was also near the hostel (about 7-10min walk).

Overall we had a great stay and we’re definitely booking this place again on our next visit 😍😍

The hostel is very clean and organized. The hosts are friendly and always there for you. You have a privat bathroom, the room is very clean and calming. In the downstairs kitchen is everything you need, also a fridge you can store your food in and you can get bottled water there. You can get more towels and bathroom articles and there is a washing machine upstairs (the view from the top of the building is a cool easter egg!). The interieur is modern and beautiful, the building from the outside looks aesthetik, too. There a several restaurants, convenient stores and most importantly a metro station nearby. Some sightseeing is within walking distance. We loved it here and would definitely recommend it! :)

1. 住宿有很多严格规定，如不能在房内吃东西、十一点后不能吹头发（直接不能去喝酒。水喔。）、一楼的交谊厅在十一点后也不能吃东西⋯：）
2. 房间本身蛮整洁的，但是非常小，勉强能摊开两个行李箱
3. 浴室的设计很不合理，门口并没有防水条，第一天洗完澡外面直接淹水：）
4. 楼下的柜台在入住的五天内大部分时间都不在，需要任何帮助的话都要自己想办法
5. 如果忽略以上所有问题Cp值算高，但我忽视不了🥹住得没有很愉快。

The place was spotless. We loved the facilities and amenities provided. We made use of the kitchen every night to cook and used the washing & drying machine on the top floor. It was a newly opened hostel so everything was so aesthetic. We enjoyed having our dinner at the common area. Lots of seatings and big windows. We were also able to strike a conversation with other guests. The location was quite strategic with convenience store just outside the hostel and 2 metro stations in walking distance. There was also a mart nearby if you need to buy groceries. Travelling from Incheon airport also was a breeze since the airport limo bus was just across the road. Definitely recommends if anyone eyeing this place.

The host is veryy kind, we got lots of recommendation surrounding hostel and even free coffee! The team also very helpful. One of their team helped me when i sprained my ankle. Also they can communicate well in English! Definetly would come back when I visit seoul again
