Jeju Sun Hotel&Casino

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel, and what truly made it exceptional was the outstanding service from An Tae Young. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfectly arranged for us.

He went above and beyond to ensure we were fully taken care of, offering thoughtful recommendations for dining and local attractions that enhanced our entire trip. Every interaction was professional, friendly, and efficient.

3 stars feels a bit harsh but 4 feels too many given my experience. The headline is that this definitely isn’t a 5-star hotel; maybe it was once but not anymore. I’ll give more detail below.

Pros:
All in all the hotel is good and decent value for money. There are lots of amenities (karaoke, sports bar, golf simulator, gym, casino). My room also looked nice and was very spacious.

The breakfast was one of the best parts - lots of variety so you can have western cooked breakfast, continental or dumplings, noodles, soup etc.

I liked the location too. There are lots of bars and restaurants in the surrounding area, close to the airport and fairly easy to get around the whole island from there.

Cons:
The first small disappointment was that the room listing clearly said my room had a hot tub and a bath (see pictures), but I only had a bath. Not a big deal though as I didn’t really want a hot tub anyway, but other people might be more disappointed than I was.

My room also had some suspect stains that grossed me out. There was a food stain (some kind of red sauce) on the bedside table that I cleaned, and there was a suspicious white splash mark on the headboard (see picture). Also there was a hard burn/melted plastic spot on the carpet.

Room service, though, was quite disappointing, and not cheap either. I asked several times for mayonnaise for my fries and was simply told no, without any explanation. I even said I would pay extra. What made it worse was that the room service guy came across as quite rude (at one point he shouted at me?) but I will choose to believe he was having a bad day.

And finally, some slightly more pedantic points, but worth mentioning given this hotel is advertised as 5-star. The free cleaning products in the bathrooms felt very cheap and watered down. I have had better in 3-star hotels.

Similarly, the room looked nice but some of the fixtures felt a bit outdated. For example, it would have been nice to have a “master” switch that turns off all the lights before bed. It was a bit inconvenient having to turn multiple lights on/off that were scattered around the room.

Nice location. Just 5000 won by cab from the airport. Free spa. Main road location. Room and bath room are reasonably good. Costs around won 5000 to reach the biggest and best casino in Jeju viz. Casino at Hotel Hyatt ( dont forget to make your membership card for playing at the casino).

My stay at the Sun Hotel and Casino was really good. The room was comfortable and the king sized bed was massive. Check-in was very easy and efficient. The bathroom was nice and clean and the hot water was excellent. The casino downstairs was small but enjoyable. I wish they had Huff and Puff or Bull Rush slot machines but the selection was good. The roulette table was good and all the staff were friendly. The best part about my stay and the thing that stood out the most was the Bell Hop at the front. I forgot to get his name but he was amazing. I had 5 bags in total and he assisted me with getting a taxi to the airport and loading and helping me with my bags. I am very thankful for his help and I will be back soon to stay at the hotel. 10/10 experience.

Convenient for downtown core with several good eating spots nearby. Far from beaches and themed cafes.
