Seogwipo KAL Hotel

Hotel has lovely gardens and is on the Olle trail for a quick walk to some waterfalls. It’s a beautiful spot. The rooms were retro but clean, with small bathrooms. Housekeeping and staff were always friendly and polite. The beds were quite hard and need to be changed as you can feel the mattress coils. You could also hear any noise from the hallways. We had a car so was easy for us to drive into town, not really walkable to the Centre of town such as the markets as it’s also quite hilly, but it’s a great base for a stay on the island.

Great location if you have a car, because you can access the Olle coastal trail directly below the hotel. The rooms are a little dated, but generally clean with decent facilities.

The room was alright. We got the room with korean floor heating system, so it seemed spacious than other rooms. Housekeeping was not that great; they didn't sweep and tidy up the bathroom nicely. But the sea view from the hotel balcony was breathtaking.

I'd give 6 stars if I could. From the courteous check-in receptionist, to the scrumptious breakfast and attentive restaurant staff and last but not the least, the amazing perfectionists -housekeeping. Couldn't ask for more.

The price is very expensive. I paid more than 200,000 won for two nights without breakfast, and breakfast costs an additional 40,000 won per person. The food also seemed overpriced, so please be aware of these costs in advance.

In addition, when I went to the restaurant, I want to sit near the window to enjoy the beach view. However, I was guided to an isolated room where no one else was seated, which was quite disappointing.

There were also no international TV channels, no remote control for the air conditioner, and no complimentary water bottles or toothbrushes. Please note that if you drink the water bottles or use the toothbrushes and toothpaste provided in the room, there is an extra charge. So disappointing.

Overall, I would not personally recommend staying here, as I felt the value did not match the cost. I hope the KAL Hotel can review these issues and make improvements for future guests.
