Jeju Shinhwa World Marriott Resort

Overall, this hotel exceeded expectation. I had very low expectations because it was on a cheap side for a five star hotel. Room condition and customer service were good. The mattress and pillow could be much better. It felt like a good, not the best in class cruise ship where there is entertainment(theme park-looked so outdated, casino, movie theater), various dining options, other facilities(gym, pool, spa) that are enough to entertain you for a few days although they may not be best quality in market. Spa was good and it was reasonably priced and both pool and gym were clean and well managed.
A few things to note. It felt highly China influenced hotel from staff, guests, and overall setting. There were staff who didn’t speak any Korean, but Chinese. The good thing was that the Chinese restaurants, both the decent one and cheaper one at Mariott building were really, really, good. But I’d choose other Korean hotels or small nice lodgings if you’d like to have more ‘Korean experience’.

Traveled to Jeju for the first time with my husband and he had used his Marriott points, we where able to experience this hotel. We were unaware of the size of the resort, but from being greeted the first night after our flight, to the lovely cleaning staff and assistants. We had a great time! Everyone’s English communication from front desk to restaurants inside was amazing. Would recommend for families, well earned vacations and couples to look into this location for your next stay! I hope we can visit once again. From movies, shopping to a amusement park attached to the residence there is plenty to do and see!

We stayed at both Marriott Shinhwa and JW Marriott Jeju for one night each. Despite the cheaper price, Marriott Shinhwa delivered a way better product than the latter.

Being a Bonvoy Platinum member, we were upgraded to a deluxe suite despite not having put in any request for a room upgrade, quite likely because of the low occupancy during our visit in early March. Here are some highlights and lowlights during our stay:

- Breakfast was the highlight for us - at S$114 per night with complimentary breakfast (again as platinum bonvoy member), it was a steal, even when compared to Airbnb. The breakfast was luxurious, with the usual western and Asian styles but also with some Korean local food items like bulgolgi pork and even raw beef. Quality was great.

- Staff were all friendly and competent.

- Parking was easily accessible to the hotel basement. Just have to use the room card key to enter (and for the first entry, get a temporary card from the bellboy)

- Location of the hotel is by the resort and theme park, which felt a bit like a smaller version of Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore. We didn’t like that though, as it felt artificial and not local.

- One has to walk through the premium outlets (presumably for winning gamblers at the casino downstairs) to get to the restaurants and theme parks that were located outdoors. It was cold and quiet when we were there.

- This place is within 10 mins driving to some attractions like the Tea Museum, Innisfree, Arte Kids Park and some nice cafes but otherwise there isn’t much around. So one night felt right for us.

I had a wonderful check-in experience at Jeju Shinhwa World Marriott Resort & Spa and I would especially like to commend Kuk at the front desk.

From the moment I arrived, Kuk was attentive, calm, and genuinely thoughtful. He spoke good English and went out of his way to assist due to my unexpected early arrival which made a huge difference to the start of my stay. Everything was handled smoothly and professionally, without me needing to ask or explain much.

What truly stood out was his warm attitude and sense of care. It was one of those moments where you really feel welcomed and well looked after. This is the kind of service that leaves a lasting impression and reflects very positively on the hotel!!

Additional Observations (Small details that stood out):
• Toilet shower area has a small mirror which is easy to miss but actually very useful
• Dining tables are placed with a sleek metal cutlery rest, a small but thoughtful detail
• Coffee is served in insulated jars at most tables – self-service but stays hot, no need to wait for staff
• Service team is very attentive and well-staffed; even managers and supervisors are hands-on and very humble & warm – very commendable attitude
• Breakfast spread is good with a solid international selection
• Guest Room features automated toilet door with warm toilet seats

Areas for Improvement:
• Dining restaurant: Marriott / VIP area could be more clearly labeled
• Glass window panes in the dining area could be cleaner

Thank you Kuk & staff - for such an excellent impression. You guys made my arrival & stay truly memorable and I didn’t regret for sticking with Marriott instead of L hotel 🙏

It is a very beautiful resort. It has everything including a nice casino and a mall. They have big rooms for meetings or for large gatherings. There are many restaurants, pharmacy and convenient store.

Very well kept nice and clean.
