Great location. I had a conference at G-Tower, and the hotel was very convenient for that. Being right by Central Park also made the stay feel special, with the opportunity to enjoy lovely evening walks.
The rooftop garden is very nice, and the rooftop bar is a great addition, even if a little expensive. The hotel is also very close to the metro, which makes getting around easy.
Overall, a very nice place: the only thing missing is a swimming pool :)
Today I checked into an IHG hotel in Incheon, South Korea, and I must say this was one of the worst check-in experiences I have had with the IHG group.
I arrived at around 8:00 AM, and my room booking had already been confirmed with the registered credit card. The reservation was supposed to include all meals and incidental expenses throughout my stay.
I requested an early check-in and was informed that the earliest possible check-in time would be around noon. Since it was already about 8:30 AM, I asked if I could have breakfast first and have the charges added to my room bill. Unfortunately, I was initially told this was not possible because the room had not yet been allocated, and I would need to pay separately.
After I pursued the matter further, one of the staff members checked with a colleague and eventually agreed to allow me to have breakfast, with the charges to be added later to the billing.
After breakfast, I waited until close to noon before the front desk manager informed me that my room was ready. However, I was then told that due to heavy occupancy, they could only offer me a late check-out until 12:00 PM the following day. Normally, late check-out is allowed until 2:00 PM or even 3:00 PM, but I accepted the arrangement.
The next issue arose during payment processing. Despite the fact that my credit card had already been provided and the reservation department had been informed that all room and incidental charges were to be billed to that card, the front desk staff appeared unaware of this arrangement. I was asked to make payment again, which caused unnecessary confusion. I had to make several calls while the staff rechecked the details, and eventually I was informed that the room charges would indeed be covered by the previously registered credit card.
Unfortunately, another problem surfaced when I asked for confirmation that the meals were included in the arrangement. Once again, I was told that meals were not included and that I would need to pay separately. I had to make additional calls, and after another 15 to 20 minutes of waiting, the front desk manager returned and explained that there had been a communication breakdown between the reservation department and the front desk team. Eventually, the matter was sorted out.
What was especially disappointing throughout this entire experience was that, from the moment I arrived and presented myself as an IHG member until the room key was finally handed over to me, none of the staff recognized or acknowledged my IHG Gold Member status. This was quite saddening, as one of the core values I have always appreciated about IHG is the recognition and appreciation shown to loyal members. Unfortunately, that standard was completely absent during this stay.
To add further context, I have checked in early at many other high-end hotels before, including hotels around Gajah Mada, Jakarta. In many of those experiences, even when I arrived as early as 8:00 or 8:30 AM, the staff would genuinely make the extra effort to prioritize cleaning and preparing a room for me. Very often, despite the official check-in time being after 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM, they would still manage to prepare the room by around 9:00 or 9:30 AM. That level of hospitality always made me feel welcomed and valued as a guest.
Unfortunately, the experience here felt entirely different. What made the situation even more disappointing was that I was initially told that late check-out could only be extended until 12:00 PM due to high occupancy. However, after all the confusion and service issues caused by the hotel’s own internal communication breakdown, the front desk manager later called my room again to apologize and suddenly offered to extend my check-out until 2:00 PM the next day.
I declined the offer because, personally, it did not feel genuine.
We expected more from this hotel as it was Holiday Inn and it was 4 stars. I must talk about this matter. Firstly, we found 2 strands of hair in the toilet sink. Like what the heck? Did they even clean the toilet before we checked in? I tried to call the front desk about it and the woman kept saying something like, "let me check something" and then tells me that she will call back. I requested for her to call someone to clean it up but she was so not helpful at all. Service was terrible for a 4 star hotel.
The rest of the hotel was alright, decent room, pretty good breakfast with Asian and Western cuisines. A good hotel if you want to go to Incheon International Airport easily.
It'ok...in the middle of nowhere....would take you almost 90 minutes by taxi to.go.to Seul. This is good hotel if you need to sleep near the airport. Good beds. Many restaurants around.
Avoid if you need to actually sleep.
The hotel deliberately switches off the air conditioning every night from 12 AM to 7 AM. They confirmed this themselves at the front desk when I complained. The room climbed to 25–26°C overnight despite the AC being set to 20°C - stifling, hard to breathe, and we barely slept.
This is not a malfunction. It’s a policy. And nowhere is it disclosed at booking.
I had a sports competition the next morning and went into it sleep-deprived because of this.
